Yes – it’s always great to see how shops adapt the tools at their disposal to solve certain needs. It’s encouraging to software developers to see that systems like EMDECS can be more useful than even we had imagined! It’s also great to be able to pass these ideas along . . .
Here are a couple of examples:
I have heard of an EMDECS customer who has created timed schedules using the EMDECS PM Schedule component to track the servicing of shop equipment other than rolling stock – trash compactors – air filtration systems – even the fire extinguisher inspections! Great idea.
Checklists and equipment record notes typically pertain to maintenance issues only – PM inspections and procedural steps for certain service jobs (wheel bolt tensions, etc.) – how about hazardous material loading or handling instructions – new regulation reminders pertaining to vehicle class or cargo?
Depending on the industry serviced by your customers or fleet, there are potentially many pieces of valuable information and reminders that can be loaded into EMDECS.
