Yes – the Technician’s Repair Order (Tech RO) screens in the 2nd generation of EMDECS that allow technicians to build repair orders and track the time spent on each labor activity can indeed be used by more than one technician in a shop.
There is a simple Clear Screen button in the top right corner that returns the system to the technician identification screen when clicked. This allows another technician to use the same computer to update, add to and/or review the repair order they have in progress. Time being tracked on repair jobs continues to be calculated in the background for all repair orders in progress – regardless of which repair order is currently on the screen or which technician is currently signed-in. When a technician returns to the computer and identifies themselves by scanning or entering an ID badge, their current repair order will display and the amount of time accumulated on the job they had clocked onto will be properly indicated.
It is recommended that each technician have access to a dedicated computer – preferably a notebook or iPad, but with the way EMDECS tracks time on multiple repair orders at once, a shop can operate with only one computer in the shop for all technicians to share.
