The Technician’s Repair Order (Tech RO) is a shop software tool, displayed on a tablet or laptop, where technician’s simply indicate, often with a single click, the job they are about to work on. EMDECS times how long a tech takes for each job. Parts can be scanned directly into Tech RO, relieving stock and adding to an RO that is built on the go. When the repairs are complete, the RO is ready for a quick review by the service manager who can submit the work to head office, or produce a professional customer invoice right then and there.
The key to this is EMDECS’ ability to associate repair jobs to specific units. Jobs can appear automatically from a PM schedule, be added manually by a tech or manager, or appear as a result of an integrated inspection where repair needs have been identified.
When a tech opens a unit into Tech RO, an RO number is established and all work waiting to be completed is listed for the tech to ‘clock’ onto, one at a time, as the work is completed. The RO is built as the work is performed.
